ECORBIT Water Wins Awards for Advancements in Wastewater Treatment Facility Operations
- ECORBIT Water recognized for operational improvements at Cheongju and National Industrial Complex wastewater treatment plant
- Introduction of indirect disctype drying technology enhances sludge treatment efficiency and reduces operating costs
- Improved piping structure ensures worker safety and enhances treatment efficiency
March 31, 2025 – ECORBIT Water announced that it received the Grand Prize from The Korean Society on Water and Wastewater and the Minister of Environment Award from the Korea Water and Wastewater Works Association at the 2025 International Water Industry Exhibition (WATER KOREA), held from March 19 for three days, in recognition of its achievements in improving environmental infrastructure operations.
ECORBIT Water won the Grand Prize in the Environmental Infrastructure Operation Technology Improvement Competition at the ‘2025 Joint Academic Conference’ co-hosted by The Korean Society on Water and Wastewater and the Korean Society of Water Environment. The award was given for the presentation on ‘Reduction of Operating Costs Through Changes in Sewage Sludge Drying Methods,’ based on improvements made at ECORBIT Water’s Cheongju wastewater treatment plant. By changing the drying method, the facility successfully enhanced operational efficiency, reduced odor complaints, and cut operating costs, earning high praise from the judges.
At the Cheongju facility, the company replaced the existing twin-paddle drying method with an indirect disc-type drying system, increasing drying efficiency up to 90%. Additionally, the improved system allows for moisture control using steam, further reducing operating costs and increasing incineration capacity.
Meanwhile, ECORBIT Water’s National Industrial Complex Wastewater Treatment Plant won the Minister of Environment Award at the ‘2025 International Water Industry Exhibition Sewerage Operation Improvement Case Presentation’ hosted by the Korea Water and Wastewater Works Association. The award was given for a presentation on ‘Improving Nozzle Cleaning by Modifying the Piping Structure in the Pressurized Flotation Tank of the Total Phosphorus Treatment Facility.’ The company was highly evaluated for implementing simple piping structure modification that simultaneously enhanced worker safety—one of the most critical aspects of wastewater treatment operations—while improving water quality and reducing costs.
ECORBIT Water representative stated, “We are honored to receive these awards in recognition of our efforts to improve water treatment operations. Moving forward, we will continue to share and develop our accumulated expertise and water treatment capabilities across all our sites, leading the industry in operational excellence.”
As the No. 1 private operator in Korea’s environmental infrastructure outsourcing market (based on treatment capacity), ECORBIT Water provides comprehensive services, including operation and management of wastewater treatment facilities, investment, design, and construction.
